Post Give us a massive gear thread !! Reply with quote
I've scorched the entire internet(almost) after Akiras gear and I found out
that he uses:

Roger Mayer power amps
Marshall JMP-1 preamps
2x Marshall 4*12 cabs

but that can't be it can it ?

If I only knew some japanese, I'd look at those too,
but unfortunately I don't know any japanese Sad

maybe someone here could help out a bit as well ? Very Happy

I`m still new here so forgive my lack of info. I guess it`s safe to say that the ESP star style guitars that Akira played in the early `80s was an influence from EVH especially with the Danelectro headstock. Did ESP make that guitar for Akira or was it already in production when he started playing it? Anyone know what pickups he was using in those guitars?

From what I can gather ...

The Red Star w/maple fretboard had stock ESPs ...
the others were mostly Duncans ... and some DiMarzios Smile

Hellow,

I'm searching (for Odin xD) for takasaki's 80's effetcs! I think this (http://www.kiyokatsu.com/AKIRA_TAKASAKI_FAN/effect.htm is a recent stuff unfortunately! Sad

I'll have a Marshall JCM 800 (4010 combo, the equivalent of the 2203 head) and i'll need an effect to boost the distortion of the amp, like an overdrive, but i don't know what effect... to get a sound like Takasaki on Thunder in the East! (aaaah crazy nights, heavy chains, like hell,... ^^)

(sorry for my english i'm french xD)
