Post Munetaka HIGUCHI: Rest in Peace Reply with quote
I am saddened to announce that Munetaka Higuchi, the legendary drummer for Loudness, has passed away yesterday. From Akira's official website:

Quote:
Our member Munetaka Higuchi has laid down his sticks as drummer of Loudness
and with them he has left that mortal part for which he no longer has use.

He was deceased on Nov. 30th 2008 10:44 am because of lever cancer. His
great drum works will remain forever with our music, and his rock spirits
will be succeeded among many rock fans.

Rest in peace Munetaka,

Akira Takasaki (Loudness)

Munetaka, you will be missed, but I'll be listening to your music all day today in tribute!

and from the LOUDNESS camp:

Quote:

Ray (mundo@mediawars.ne.jp) (of Mundo CD) translated the message on Loudness's official website today as requested by Jim Ledwith.

Here is the translation:

Munetaka Higuchi died of a hepatocellular carcinoma at a hospital in Osaka at 10:44 a.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2008. With the consent of the bereaved, we make the official announcement today. We are sorry that the report was late. The funeral is going to be held only by the family, and a farewell party will be held later with the concerned people and fans.

Higuchi had entered and got out of the hospital repeatedly for 8 months since hepatocellular carcinoma was discovered in March, 2008. During that time, he always had a strong will to overcome this serious illness and get well. But suddenly he became worse.

He always gave us a dream and hope through a majestic figure as a rock drummer. His soul will be succeeded in future.

We are deeply grateful for the condolences from many people.

I'm so sorry for the loss of such a legendary drummer. Now I'm saddened that we will never experience another wonderful show that he always delivered in every concert he performed. But now he is able to play and jam with other legends that have crossed over to the other side. I'll always have a place in my heart for him and remember him as I listen to his music inspiring me to be a legend like he is. Rest in peace and you will always be remembered!!

M
