LOUDNESS are put on hold indefinitely - Munetaka is ill |
|
Hi everyone,
This is my first post and I have to tell you guys bad news.
Japanese newspapers report:
Loudness drummer Munetaka Higuchi was diagnosed with liver cancer (Hepatocellular Carcinoma) earlier this month. He is still in hospital, where he has been undergoing radiotherapy for HCC.
Loudness are going to play the scheduled 3 gigs with a replacement drummer, whose name hasn't been revealed yet. After those gigs the band are going to be put on hold indefinitely until Munetaka gets full strength back.
An official statement from the band's management can be found in the official Loudness website, though it is written in Japanese.
Let's hope Munetaka gets well soon.

From Akira's official blog, autotranslated via Google:
 | | Higuchi's test results are available tomorrow, I worry. If the initial product is a light quick comeback. This year's tour offers rocklahoma performers come from the manager, so I want to achieve together. First concentrate on treatment. |

The official statement (English Version)
 | | Loudness Drummer, Munetaka Higuchi's Sabbatical
"I have an important announcement to make to all our fans. On April 7th, our drummer, Munetaka Higuchi was hopitalized for a check-up on his liver and after all the tests, he was diagnosed with Hepatocellular Carcinoma.
In order to receive treatment and fight this disease, he will be on sabbatical for the time being. It was his strong desire to come out and tell all of you about his illness since he appreciates your love and support and believes he will prevail and come back to play again. We appreciate your understanding and support through this hard time.
As for our scheduled live performances in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, after much consideration, we have decided to replace Munetaka and carry them out as scheduled.
We apologize for any inconvenience and disappointment this would cause and again appreciate your understanding and cooperation."

There has been no further news about Munetaka's health but the name of the replacement drummer has been officially announced today.
A former Ded Chaplin drummer, Kozo Suganuma has been playing professionally since the age of 15 and is one of the country's most sought-after drummers in different musical fields. Minoru, who has known Kozo for more than 30 years, describes him as "one of the best drummers in the world, not only in Japan".
Here is a message from Kozo:
 | | I think everyone already knows about these unfortunate news. Mr. Munetaka Higuchi from LOUDNESS has been diagnosed with cancer and he is fighting with this illness. I feel very sad as a fellow drummer and as a friend.
Recently, I received a call from Minoru Niihara (Ded Chaplin's vocalist and my former bandmate), who told me about the sad news. After I heard the news, I decided to take over his work. I cancelled most of my previous commitments. It is not easy to take over such a great band that creates Japanese metal music history. Also, I haven't had enough time to do rehearsals. However, I wanted to do something for my friend. It was a very difficult decision for me. I hope all of the LOUDNESS fans understand the situation.

The latest, autotranslated from Akira's blog:
 | | Higuchi, who left the test results, doctors were surprised about the strong body of the owner. Cancer progression is a bit fast it is the first step in Japan's recovery on the best treatment for charity'll do my best. Tokyo's hospitals are already out of hospital, as a next step. Usually the administration of anti-cancer agents, healthy cells are essentially human傷付けalso have to lose for the natural healing power of it is not too hot, just hear from the manager said in a special way as much as possible to other organs and cells burden Cancer treatment-free way to beat up on. Just 32 years ago now, in pursuit of a dream the same thing思い出しますhas come to town. And with good humour crisp ROCK fans to be rooting like everyone wants to be delivered. |
